Jon Bara Johansen, born in Norway in 1952, got his musical education at the Norwegian State Academy of Music during the years 1970-1974.

In addition he made graduate studies at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory in Prof. Arvid Jansons and Prof. Mariss Jansons class for conductors from 1980-1982 as a Norwegian State scholarship holder.

Since then he conducted leading symphony orchestras and choirs as well as opera- and ballet productions in many European countries.

In Norway he conducted among others the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra.

In Berlin he conducted, e.g., at the Komische Oper, the Rundfunk-Sinfonie-Orchester, the Rundfunk Chor as well as the Deutsches Kammerorchester. He could also be seen regularly as guest conductor in the Philharmonie Berlin.

In 2004 Jon Bara Johansen founded the Residenz Orchester Berlin.
